ELIANA HOUSE

THE NEEDS AND DESIRES:
Located in the “Colonia Santa María” urbanization in Aravaca, an oasis in Madrid. The plot has 350 m 2 and the property was clear from the beginning that it wanted to have the maximum garden available, without giving up a large house. The architects of INHABITANT decided to respect the location of the old house within the plot, popular wisdom, supporting the house on the north dividing wall and in this way the project managed to leave a large garden facing south.
THE ARCHITECTURE:
The original idea was to design functional spaces and open, light and transparency are the protagonists, naturally integrating the outer space of the garden with the interior rooms of the noble floor.
The day area takes place on the ground floor with a large living room with fireplace, dining room and kitchen. To respond to the need for transparency and spaciousness, it was decided to separate these rooms with large sliding glass carpentry.
On the upper floor are the three bedrooms with landscape windows to gain privacy and in the basement there is a bedroom suite with a multipurpose room used alternatively as a movie theater.
These three floors are connected with a staircase-library topped with a large skylight, giving a solution of continuity and fluidity between the three floors.
The volume of the house is an abstraction of a large tree with its facades on the first floor lined with wood protruding to form a porch.
So that the client can visualize the space more clearly, scale models have been made.
THE INTERIOR DESIGN:
The interior design, as in all the work of INHABITANT , is closely linked to the architecture and defined by the finishes of natural materials , ecological flooring, lime paints in light and friendly tones, clay plasters, tadelakt in bathrooms, natural ceramics. , wood carpentry with CFC certificate.
The house breathes nature.
The furniture and equipment are recovered from the old house of the property and the spaces have been specially designed for this furniture.
All the fixed furniture in the house is designed by HABITANT.
OUTSIDE:
The garden is actually the main protagonist of this unique house, it is integrated into the entire ground floor by the large sliding windows, giving the feeling of great light and space.
The old trees of the old house that provide shade and shelter have been respected, a natural filter pool has been built with the same plants from the garden and an ecological garden has been installed.
All this outdoor space is linked with a natural wood flooring.
THE QUALITIES:
The property chose from the beginning, the qualities of the INHABITANT'S ECOLOGICAL RANGE , with a passive domestic hot water production system as support, kitchen equipped with the eco range, home automation control in blinds, underfloor heating and cooling with pump. heat, natural cork insulation, LED lighting integrated into the architecture and cladding materials and finishes with organic production certificate.
Built with ecological materials and systems, it is an example of sustainable architecture.
