PROJECT TEAM:

INHABITANT / Comprehensive housing reform projects.

THE NEEDS AND DESIRES:

Coloma has a hectic work life and was looking for a house in the neighborhood for a comprehensive reform project that would adapt to its most important needs, "Go walking to town", create bright and relaxing spaces, build with natural materials, open spaces and not exceed an investment in reform of more than € 130,000.

THE SEARCH:

With these premises, our purchasing advice department got down to work, and in two months, after visiting and discarding several properties, found the house where the architects were able to explore its potential. It is a corner house of a semi-detached construction more than fifty years old, with an area of 140 m 2 , solidly built and without humidity, fundamental, where demolishing there to find light, opening holes there to place the staircase, removing partitions to create spacious rooms they imagined a project that they captured in plans, renders and models.

THE ARCHITECTURE:

The original house had had several extensions without any vision of the whole or spatial or organizational criteria, so it was necessary to reorganize all the spaces.

The main challenge consisted of two major performances. The first was to demolish an old extension located to the south to create a patio that would be the soul of the house, lung and provider of vegetation and light. The second, placing the staircase of the house at the back of the building, with a large skylight to illuminate the dark part of the ground floor.

It was opted for an open ground floor distribution of kitchen-dining room, living room and a large window that also integrates the patio, perfectly adapted to the "L" shape of the house floor where the social life of the house can be developed comfortably. owner.

The upper floor is accessed via the staircase leading to the large skylight, where two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are distributed.

Externally, it was proposed that the house retain the town style to contextualize it with the neighborhood environment, respecting the white plastering and the Arabic tile roofs.

THE INTERIOR DESIGN:

A disturbing mix of natural minimalism was HABITANTE's proposal to fulfill the desires of sobriety and clean lines required.

Resorting to traditional lime plaster materials on polished concrete walls and floors was the resource to integrate exterior spaces with interiors, treated with rough textures on the outside and polished on the inside. These materials convey to the environment the feeling of tranquility and nobility sought.

The lighting is integrated into the architecture, as a symbol of the INHABITANT brand.

The furniture and equipment were chosen by the owner with the support of INHABITANT, providing personality and warmth to the environments.

All the fixed furniture in the house is designed by  HABITANT.

THE EXTERIORS:

The patio is the life of the noble floor of the house. It is oriented to the south and the proposal was to rescue the spirit of the neighborhood patios, with sensations of freshness in summer and sunny in winter.

A flush perimeter planter and a fountain of manual calcareous tiles were proposed giving it a popular touch.

The gardening is based on fruit trees, lemons and apricots and aromatic and traditional Madrid plants, jasmine, lavender, solanum etc.
